Using "Clear Errors" cancels downloading of failed

Post by SiskoBen »

Hi Alex,

I just noticed an unexpected behaviour (well it was unexpected for me).

I was monitoring Newspro and wanted to clear the list of errors in the taskmanager dialog (so that i could check if my tweakings of the settings would be effective). I clicked the "Clear Errors" button and apart from the expected behaviour of clearing the error logs of the taskmanager it also canceled the downloading of failed articles (those articles that had a question mark in their status box were now without question mark or checkmark).

My questions are as follows on this issue:
- Is this as designed?
- Can it be changed (or perhaps a feature added to clear just the error logs)

Best regards,
Arjan

yes, newspro uses the error list to find failed articles (we can think of more options - like "clear failed articles", "retry failed header tasks", "clear header errors" etc. but it would mean too many options)

you can invoke retry failed articles prior to to pressing clear errors to achieve want you want.

Hi Alex,

Thanks for your answer.

I have already tried your work-around however it sometimes happens that i am too slow between activating the 'retry failed tasks' and 'clear errors' that in the time between some articles have failed already.

I guess i just have to life with it.

Arjan
