Perhaps the pause button should be split. One the traditional "pause". Another a Pause with timer. When you click it, it prompts you for how long or is at least set within the tasks properties.

Re: "Extract" function for (quick) filter

One of the functions I miss is to "extract", i.e. display only headers matching a certain (quick) filter criterion. Is this feature already available on UE? All I have found so far is that entering a criteria in the quick filter bar will mark matching headers but won't restrict view to ma...

Re: UE - feature requests!

1. Quick filter bar - how about having a checkbox to "NOT" the subject/author boxes, so that I could filter the posts that DON'T have the value I type into the subject box. The quick filter bar can utilize wildmat formatting. (google search for WILDMAT) put a "^" before the stri...

Unfortunately, without knowing more about your current network load, the load on your usenet server, how much you are uploading, etc, this is a tough one to diagnose. I regularly download articles at over 1000KB/sec as I have a beefy download speed. Some things off the top of my head to check are: E...

Essentially, UE is a different product with a similar GUI front-end. I highly doubt that the reg.dat format will work between the two products. There currently is not an import/export function for UE. The way I converted over was to open the newsgroup list and using CTRL, select all of the groups (o...

Re: Usenet Explorer - quick questions

In the newsgroup workspace there used to be always showing artcle numbers they only seem to show after you open the group. True, you can, however, set each group to open when UE loads. If you have a high header count group (such as an alt.binaries.* group), i strongly suggest using the Compact Bina...

so in summary, the graphical representation in NP was not implemented in UE. Rather, a more informative text-based representation exists.

Personally, I like seeing the text-based percentages for each part as it gives you a better idea of what's going on.

It's still there, just in a different format/location. If you open the task manager tab, to the right of each operation type (i.e. articles, headers, etc) there is a doublecomputer icon.

That icon will provide you ta percentage indicator for each task.

Yes, that is the kb article. Check out: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/893066 They have a lot of issues with MS05-019 it appears. ALEX: Does Newspro send TCP packets or UDP packets over raw IP sockets? If so, it may stop working after you apply security update MS05-019 to a computer that is running...

Has this recently started? Was 3.81 running ok for a while and then started experiencing this problem? If it seems to be within the last month and you've applied all of the Windows hotfixes, try uninstalling MS05-019. It's been causing some funky networking problems at work and could potentially be ...

many times corruption can be attributed to bad memory or the database has become corrupt. Have you tried resetting the database? If not, have you tried running a memory test program? I've had several bad chips in the past 1/2 year where the system appeared to operate fine, except when memory intensi...

Not sure why that should be happening, but instead of opening each group separately, you can make a global filter for messages with bodies. should help a little at least.

not really related to newspro, but one of the other things the IPv6 protocol offers over IPv4, if i read correctly, is the ability to multicast packets.

It would be very useful for cutting down the bandwidth required to stream audio/video feeds to multiple clients.
