I am following and downloading a post using xpat search and scheduler on.
scheduler is always on: everyday 00:00-24:00. Get headers = every 20 minutes. Watch = on, save = on. rescan every 2th time.
In the common settings, everything is on.
"enable scheduler" and "enable auto get headers" in the "task" menu is selected.
When i started the xpat search it quite quickly found the new headers and put the attachments in the right place. Then i closed newspro.
The next day i restarted newspro, but the xpat search took a very long time (few hours) so i did right-click on the xpat newsgroup and said "open and rescan headers" and then it quite soon found new headers.
This day the same happened: for some hours it did not find anything (althoug i knew for certain the files were there) some hours after another.
When I right-clicked and selected "open and rescan headers" it found the new headers.
Maybe I am doing something wrong? Need I set some extra things to make it really automatic, or do I have to do something to speed up the process?
question about watch/scheduler/xpat search
there is no connection here.
rescan for xpat group means that before the xpat command newspro checks existing headers and deletes those not found and then newspro goes on with the xpat like in 'get new headers'.
maybe these were some problems with the server, if you launched the 'get new headers' the result would be at least the same fast.

it doesn't matterh whether you restarted the program or not.
xpat cannot be 'continued' from the middle, just the command is issued again, if you set auto get headers it will be automatically, otherwise, if you interrupted it in the middle newspro doesn't keep the header tasks, it wouldn't make much sense - only article tasks are saved.
