Show auto collections setting not stored on restart

Post by wurzel »

I am using sets and have the following display setting chosen (via Buttons):
show auto collections enabled
show custom settings disabled (grayed out, since particular setting disabled)
show sets disabled
show files enabled

In the properties, I have the following settings:
Collections
[X] Enable auto collections
[ ] Enable custom collections

Sets
[X] Enable rar/par2/split sets
[X] Lower RAM usage for compact binary type
[ ] Set only as a whole in custom collections

Whenever I restart usenetexplorer, the displayed setting changes to:
show auto collections disabled
show custom settings disabled (grayed out, since particular setting disabled)
show sets enabled
show files enabled

How can I have my preferred settings remain on restart of the program?

Thanks for your time and all your hard work!

Whether auto collections are shown is governed by Edit menu->Properties->Newsgroups, the "Collections" combo box for the selected entry.

Only the sort order may have the "Persist" setting, the rest are set to be fixed in Properties, otherwise it would be too confusing.

Check maybe "Collections" are set to "Custom" or "None", if they are set to "Default" the value is taken from the "Collections" combo box for the topmost "Default" entry. By default (for new installations) Collections are set to "All" for the Default entry and Default for newly added groups.

Custom collections maybe better to keep enabled since they may be used to store the nzb password in the collection name. Because there was no warning about it the option is even reenabled (only once) when upgrading from v7.1 or an earlier version.

Thank you for your reply! Yes, as you assumed, the setting in Edit menu->Properties->Newsgroups was set to "Custom", despite me having disabled the checkbox for custom collections. I thought whatever I set on the icon bar would be saved for the next restart of the program.
When changing this default back to "Auto", it all works as I want it to :)
Cheers! :D
