Incomplete newsgroup list

Post by the new guy »

:?: I installed Newspro yesterday, and I have a problem.

I entered my server information, and I am able to browse some groups. However, many of the groups are not there! Newspro says that there are only about 6000 groups on my news server, but with Xnews there are over 100000.

Yes, "force authenication" is turned on.

No, pressing "show deleted headers" does not show any missing groups.

What am I doing wrong?

Did you get new newsgroups for the server, by right clicking on the server in the newsgroups list? I suspect that you are talking about headers within a group, but I am not certain.

No, I am indeed talking about groups, not headers. My server has over 100,000 groups displayed in Xnews, but Newspro is only displaying about 6000 of them. The groups which are there seem to be functioning normally.

Yes I right-clicked on the server and told it to download all groups. I reset the list and downloaded them again, but I get the same problem.

The reason I mentioned the "display deleted headers" option is because Alex mentioned that in another thread as a way to display groups which the user had deleted, but did not realize he had done so. Apparently this option applies not only to headers, but to groups as well. Unfortunately, it did not help in my case.

Hmm, I have never had that problem, but don't have very much use for the newsgroups, so don't get them often. There was no error message on the task manager? Like it timed out and quit before it got done. Authentication isn't the problem, otherwise you wouldn't get any.

No, there are no errors on the task manager, but thanks for trying to help.

Can anyone else help? When is Alex getting back?
