Don't know if it's multithreading but when UE is saving/loading/unloading, I can't seem to be able to move around UE. I have to wait until this process is done before I can start clicking on folders, headers, menu, etc... maybe a workaround for this?

you can change settings so e.g. you only unload manually, with compact binary type RAM shouldn't be a critical problem. if there are no system lockups or crashes it is pretty safe and newsgroup data should be saved with high probability in any case.
read UE.txt there should be some info about different load/unload modes.
