Setting up Proxy

I can't seem to figure out this proxy server thing. Can someone just give me example of how they have set one up. Please share this with me..
It is entered like in any other program, just in newspro you can set a number of proxies - one is the local proxy and per-server dedicated proxy.
the local proxy can be disabled on per server basis (so some servers are accessed through it and some not).
as to a proxy itself you enter its name, port and type, there are several easy to understand check boxies to switch it on/off.
if you have a proxy or proxies you want to use describe exactly what you need (proxy for all newsservers/dedicated proxy to access a certain server/providing maximum anonymity), then I could explain where to put them.
