Joining Newsgroups
Joining Newsgroups
I was attempting to join several newsgroups into one virtual newsgroups, so I highlighted (Cntrl+click) two newsgroups, I right-clicked on one of them and went to "Join Newsgroups". It then asked me to Name my virtual newsgroup, which I did (Audiobooks). At that point, it looked like it did show me a combined headers list but it did not create a virtual newsgroup called Audiobooks that I could click on in the future. I would have to go through the joining feature to view the combined articles again. Also, I am using the trial version so I'm not sure if this feature is enabled. What am I doing wrong? By the way, I've been using Newspro for a couple of days and I love it. I am a total power user and its rare that a program allows so much control.
Actually, Bruce was right. If you have several newsgoups in one folder and you double click on that parent folder, it will give you a combined virtual newsgroup. Thanks for the help. What threw me was that when I tried to use the "join newsgroups" feature, it asked me for a virtual newgroup name which I never really saw it use.
Erh I know my English sucks but I re-read what u 2 answers & that confused me :p
It is said in the website "Folders & Virtual Newsgroups" :
1 - "Folders behave alsmost as usual newsgroups ... Now the folder window is open and all headers are directed to the folders window as well as to the newsgroups that constitute the folder as..."
Folders serve as a heirarchy but it serve as well as a virtual Newsgroup where the config is permanent becose u organized like that in NewsPro.
So when u open the folder u open a view that has the folder name that contains a bunch of newsgroups , so it's like a virtual Newsgroups , no?
Alex didn't specificaly mention it thou, I agree but that is the "Permanent Virtual Newsgroups" I was refering to.
2 - "You can also create a virtual newsgroup from arbitrary newsgroups with the same capabilities - select newsgroups in question and use the 'join newsgroups' entry in the context menu:"
That is the "Temporal Virtual Newsgroups" I mentioned.
I agree that u could just create subfolders & put newsgroups in it & just open 1 newsgroup that interest u & never use the virtual newsgroup by opening the parent folder... but man it's NewsPro here, it can do it, why not use it !!
That's btw one of other reasons I'm a NewsPro user.

OK, I understand what you're saying. I guess you could say that a folder does act as a sort of "permanent" virtual newsgroup when opened in that way. Since the folder heirarchy is carried over, so you can always access it.Folders serve as a heirarchy but it serve as well as a virtual Newsgroup where the config is permanent becose u organized like that in NewsPro.
