usenetserver and XPAT

I just signed with usenetserver as the new pricing is attractive and astraweb has been hit & miss all the time I've used them.

I read some posts that they now accept searches on MSG-ID.
Does anyone know if that means that usenetserver can be treated the same as other servers that support XPAT? i.e. the ##<newsgroup> stuff is no longer required?

I'm also thinking that the indexing services are making XPAT redundant as the least processing intensive way of searching news servers.

Thanks

i hope so (in fact i'm very unsure given the long history of their non-compliant nntp protocol interpretation), if you can download imported headers with newspro (e.g. from alt.binaries.nl) that don't present in other newsgroups they have fixed it.

i've just got an email from usenetserver, they tell me their software vendor had fixed the issue and now they support retrieving by message-ids and xpat. so the ## workaround is not needed any more.
