One server needs to be fixed (hardware), the former starlink server I now connected directly. That server can provide decent retention by itself, but the other server should be fixed too eventually.

Need to check the current real retention on servers and at least as long as one search server is down just to provide continuous retention and not necessarily back to 2008, since it is rather only a historical interest now given the later "obfuscated" uploads' flood, I will adjust this shortly, but if the other server can be revived fast I'll just leave all as it was.

Update: the retention gaps are now minimal and there is some progress in fixing the downed server, at least now it can be switched on.

Update: the retention is now set to be 14 years continuous, as to the picture group subset I didn't have to touch it so it goes back to 2008. I was informed by someone who knows the current situation that at most usenet providers have 14 years retention for some groups and typically a decent usenet provider has 6-8 years retention and the amount of RAM available was enough for that.
