Rollback
I see now some problem with the standard SSL code, they are crazy.
I'll put another version later, we'll check whether it fixes this problem.
Problem with completing downloads
I checked the thread before you posted and was like "what happened?"
Anyways, sounds good. I did get WinPCap installed before you said to hold on so I went ahead and checked with Ethereal (which is now Wireshark apparently, guess I missed a memo ). Once stuck there are absolutely no packets going in either direction. So I believe that's good news for the fix you are working on.

Confirmed: I have four segments hung at 0% for around 3 hours 15 minutes now. Restarting UE connected and downloaded the remaining segments and the articles saved.
I realise you have another guinea pig to test with but I thought I'd add that I have the same experience anyway.
I will check tomorrow what the latest developments are - time to go to bed for me...

So far so good. I couldn't get SSL to run for 5 minutes straight without getting stuck earlier.
I've had at least seven connections freeze so far and all cleared, six of them with the error "Connection unexpectedly closed by the server", which is, I assume, the timeout. (And one was an "actively refused" message, which happens with UNS on occasion.) They all timed out after about 30 seconds (which is what I have the timeout set to).
I'll let it run overnight which will be the true test but it's looking very good so far. I'll report back tomorrow. Thanks!
Edit: Well overnight no tasks got permanently hung. In fact I can see that it's timing out because I have a whole bunch of jobs "Pending" in the high 90 percentile. I'm not quite sure why retrying hasn't resolved them as I have retries set to 5 and the retry interval set to 120 minutes but perhaps I just have something misconfigured (or, now that I think about it, it's probably these tasks are just from the last 120 minutes and have yet to get retried...I'll wait and see). Regardless, to me, it looks like SSL timeouts are fixed. Great work alex and thank you.
