I would still love to see a bandwidth counter that counts backwards from a setpoint to accommodate 'pay by download' subscriptions.
Preferably with a warning at a customizable setpoint too.

with few exceptions it is mostly unpack related release, since it was a big chunk of work with the number of features and it is natural there were a number of requests and the code is very fresh in my memory.

where you still manage to find metered accounts? is it much less than $12 at ngroups.net and $15 UNS for unlimited? or it is ISP. i'm just wondering if it is not the same kind of request as e.g. improving dial-up support.

Well, my ISP offers a lot with a day or 2 retention.
And then I have an astranews account to fill in the missing posts every now and then.
It would be overkill for me to have a monthly subscription to a paid news server.
I get by with $100 worth of downloads for a year or 2 for the last few years.
So that's quite a lot cheaper then a monthly subscription which I would use only half as I have my ISP news server.
