Collection missing a file.
Collection missing a file.
Alex;
I am seeing more and more of this lately. Especially in this particular group.
UltraISO v9.3.0.2600 Premium Edition (Multilingual) by Magic.rar
UltraISO v9.3.0.2600 Premium Edition (Multilingual) by Magic.rar.vol0+1.PAR2 (*/2)
UltraISO v9.3.0.2600 Premium Edition (Multilingual) by Magic.rar.par2 (1/1)
The above collection shows 3 files but only downloads/saves the two PAR files and loses the RAR???
Am I missing a setting someplace?
Thanks

Which OS are you using? What is your initial (root) save path?
It downloaded/extracted fine for me but, as ever with these stupid posts, these RARs contain directories inside them. When UE extracts, the extra directories can create paths that are beyond the acceptable OS limit. For example:
'\UltraISO v9.3.0.2600 Premium Edition (Multilingual) by Magic\UltraISO v9.3.0.2600 Premium Edition (Multilingual) by Magic'
is what is tacked onto the end of your beginning pathname. Add on whatever root you have and count the length (the above is 121 characters, minus the '\'). It may be your path is just too long. I've already posted about this. Check your path length to rule that out as being the problem.

I did a search for these files in UEs Search service and then imported them, they ware added to a custom collection that downloaded fine.
Then I disabled show custom collections and now the files are separated in two sets one collection including the par2 files and one non collection for the RAR file.
I assume you got the files normally by downloading headers so my result might be different, I did download the headers after also but there still could be a difference.

So ware all the files actually in the collection?hholland wrote:The above collection shows 3 files but only downloads/saves the two PAR files and loses the RAR???

Looking at this again I might have misread it. Did you download the files and the RAR ended up missing or is it that by just reading through headers the RAR was not listed as part of the collection? What was enabled - Collections and/or Custom collections?
You say you downloaded the whole lot but the RAR went missing. At which point did it disappear?

Yes... I clicked the collection (master) which was the RAR file with the PAR files as part of the collection. When it downloaded, the RAR was NOT in the directory but the PAR's were.
Yes... I did a SEARCH and the RAR and PAR's all showed up. I selected all and they downloaded as expected.
Question is... Why does it NOT download the RAR (or the file which is used for the name of the collection/topmost item), but does when selected in SEARCH results?
Clear as mud now huh?

I get the feeling that if:
UltraISO v9.3.0.2600 Premium Edition (Multilingual) by Magic.rar
UltraISO v9.3.0.2600 Premium Edition (Multilingual) by Magic.rar.vol0+1.PAR2 (*/2)
UltraISO v9.3.0.2600 Premium Edition (Multilingual) by Magic.rar.par2 (1/1)
was instead:
UltraISO v9.3.0.2600 Premium Edition (Multilingual) by Magic.rar
UltraISO v9.3.0.2600 Premium Edition (Multilingual) by Magic.vol0+1.PAR2 (*/2)
UltraISO v9.3.0.2600 Premium Edition (Multilingual) by Magic.par2 (1/1)
then the collection would have been fine. I think it's something to do with '.rar' being appended to the end of the PARs causing UE to think they are a separate basename.

Yes I think that is the problem when UE is not showing them in the same collection, but hholland seems to have them in the same collection so that is weird.Josef K wrote:then the collection would have been fine. jonib, if you look at those headers would you confirm that:
Clicking 'Show collections' on its own shows the RAR and the two PARs in two separate collections.
Clicking 'Show custom collections' puts all three into the same collection.
Clicking both 'Show collections' and 'Show custom collections' together also puts all three files into the same collection.
It must just be how UE interprets the subject. UE will look at the subject and judge anything ending in 'RAR' of a particular length to be one post. The PARs, containing the extra '.rar' will be judged as a separate post. This logic doesn't explain why Collections and Custom collections have different results. Ultimately, it comes back to the original poster not doing it properly.

Yes, because I imported them form the search service so they got but in the same custom collection.Clicking 'Show custom collections' puts all three into the same collection.
Yes, the custom collection has priority.Clicking both 'Show collections' and 'Show custom collections' together also puts all three files into the same collection.
I would assume UE uses a more generic way to put file in collections and not use specific file types. It must just be how UE interprets the subject. UE will look at the subject and judge anything ending in 'RAR' of a particular length to be one post. The PARs, containing the extra '.rar' will be judged as a separate post.
Custom collections just collect the files you marked when importing from the search service. This logic doesn't explain why Collections and Custom collections have different results.

I missed that. Sometimes I check with my PDA when I'm out on the road and scrolling up and down can be a bit jumpy. At least that now confirms for me the different settings match what I see in my setup and that it's not some result of an obscure setting, as you mentioned also previously in this thread:jonib wrote:Like I said before in this thread...
It's better to rule out any discrepancies and all be clear on what happens and when.jonib wrote:but hholland seems to have them in the same collection so that is weird.
I wasn't meaning this for every post - just as an example for this one. UE must have a subject pattern matching algorithm that will take the characters from start to end, find the RAR(s) and match it up with PARs. Since this post contained PARs with the extra '.rar' in them, then they will be treated differently. UE can only go so far and this still lies with the original poster not knowing the consequences of this naming convention.jonib wrote:I would assume UE uses a more generic way to put file in collections and not use specific file types.
Now back to my original topic.... It shows up as a collection, no problem, BUT when the collection is marked for download/save it fails to save the actual RAR file (the first file in the collection).
Searching for the files and selection all (3) of them indeed places them in a custom collection in the Import screen and does indeed download all three files to the selected location.
So why? Appears to be a bug that only raised it's head in the last 3 releases.
Thanks guys.... Appreciate your input and interest.

hholland could you check when the RAR file gets missing?
When you mark the collection for download is the RAR file checked?
Could you check the taskmanager to see if the RAR file is downloading?
Does it get to the save queue?
If it downloads to fast to check the taskmanager you could slow down the download speed in UEs settings (Edit->Properties->Tasks->Bandwidth->Limit to).

Jonab;
Have you tried and duplicated the problem as I described it in my first post?
Yes The RAR file is the 'collection' header file. Yes it is checked for download along with the other files making up the collection (2 PAR files).l
No it does NOT show up in task manager.
No it is NOT downloaded to the 'save directory'.
Yes I can search (using search) find the actual headers which show up as 3 seperate files (search results does not show collections).
I can mark the 3 for down load and they show up in the IMPORT view as a collection of 3.
They are indeed donloaded this way to the selected directory.
Hopefully this clarifies it. P.S. I have both collections and custom collections checked.....
Thanks
