Feature Request: option to always run repair

Post by yatzr »

I've had several sets recently where UE will think that the set does not need repair, so it doesn't grab the .par2s and then it fails when it tries to unrar. So then, I have to go back and find the .par2 files and use quickpar to repair it. The thing that I've noticed with all of these sets is that the the file(s) that needs repaired has a full filesize. If you only look at the filesize of all the files, it would appear that they are all okay. Does UE by chance use filesize to determine if a file does not need repaired?

Anyway, it would be nice if there was an option to always run the repair even if UE doesn't think it's necessary.

of course in the scenario you describe UE par2 verifies data files, it would be insane not to.

in edit menu->properties->save/unpack uncheck "delete par2 files after repair" to prevent par2 files from being deleted.

when you see it next time click the par2 set or rar set and invoke advanced->reload exact files.

if the par2 set status changes from "complete" to "repairable" or "non-repairable", there is something which corrupts files on the disk when UE is saving them.

there is no reason to verify all files, even after repair only damaged files are verified, if what has been written to the disk is different from what was being written, any changed data files in your system like outlook express folders are not safe, you need to address the cause of the problem then.
