need help with server set up
I can't get the newsgroup list to open. I imported the server but the window is empty when I click on open newsgroup list. I need some one to explain how to get this to work, because i've been on every helpsite that I know of, there is no good tutorial. So how do you set up the server??
SOP would be to click on the "newsgroups & servers" icon to open up that window. Expand the Newsgroup List, find the server, right click and choose "Get All Newsgroups (latest article numbers)."
I'm assuming that, if necessary, you've set up the server with the necessary user/pass info. If not, you would get a red flag, and an error would show up in the Task Manager.
If you're doing all this and still not getting any newsgroup listing, maybe it's something with the server. Have you tried other servers?

when I imported the server, I ment "I imported the server list" from the menu listed (import server list). I don't know if that means that (you set up the server)?now that I have another server list I get an error saying "these servers are aliases delete one of...." and the options are "delete adult-east.newsfeeds.com and goliath-east.newsfeeds.com" so what should I do to get this to work?
aliases are caused by newsfeeds pointing several servers to the same physical server with the same ip.
you can disable check for aliases in properties->general, check for aliases, but the best solution is to hardwire ip addresses to server names in the windows 'hosts' file using http://www.thalunatik.com/newsfeeds
the problem here is when they switch servers - header info of replaced server (article numbers) become irrelevant, from other side you download headers twice from the same server.
