Save Directory bug?

Post by voripteth »

I've defined various newsgroups to save in different directories. For example, MP3s go in a different directory than JPGs. This seems to work just fine. The problem that I have is when I Combine Newsgroups the appropriate save directory isn't used.

In my particular situation I have files saved to the Usenet/TMP directory by default. I've set up all my MP3 newsgroups to save to MP3/TMP. When I use the Combine Newsgroups command on my MP3 newsgroups, files will get saved to Usenet/TMP which is incorrect, IMHO.

My guess is this was done to handle the situation where not all of the combined newsgroups save to the same location. The behavior that I'd prefer is to use the save directory of the first entry of the combined newsgroup. This will make UE save to the directory that I want.

Thanks!

Alex, is this on the bug fix list or would it be considered a new feature?

are you combining newsgroups manually?

you need to use folders and in folders you can define save directory per folder. you just drag newsgroups into folders. the save directory is set in properties->newsgroups (folders are listed there too).

in theory should be no problem then.

Thanks for the help. I had the newsgroups in a separate folder already and was selecting all the groups inside the folder and using Combine Newsgroups.

Now I realize that if I just open the folder I get the same behaviour and I can set the save folder too. Thanks for the tip!
