I've been trying to learn about this by reading on the web. So far I understand that Par and Par2 files help recover missing or corrupted uploads. I also downloaded a free program called QuickPar, clicked on some Par files, and it either tells me everything is okay, or it fixes it. And supposedly it can watch folders and do this automatically, but I can't see how to set this up.
From reading here, I get the impression that I'm supposed to associate a Par and/or RAR program with UI. Is this correct? And does this then take care of something automatically? Maybe do the fixing part?
Also, the files I'm downloading are not in RAR files. They look like standard media files that are uploaded in multi-parts. But then there are Par2 files, maybe in case part is missing?
Can someone give me an overview of how this all works, or maybe point me to a message or faq that does? I've already done a lot of reading, but can't seem to get further along in understanding this.

Have you tried reading here http://www.slyck.com/ng.php.
I had not found that one. Thanks. I just read the whole thing. It even answered a burning question that I forgot to ask.blackdog56 wrote:Have you tried reading here http://www.slyck.com/ng.php.
I'm still wondering, though, about the UE connection with this. Does UE place calls to outside programs such as WinRAR and/or QuickPar to help it save attachments or do other operations. And do I need to do anything to make sure UE has access to whatever outside programs it needs?
no, ue does not to that at the moment to my knowledge.
But you might give those free programs a try:
" Par and Rar" http://www.milow.net/site/projects/parnrar.html
And:
"Autounpack" http://www.see-and-be.com/AutoUnpack/index.php
Those programs monitor the download directory and automatically repair, unpack and delete the rar files at the end.
I like both of them
