Vista
as a rule 64bit and 32bit is the same as long as an application doesn't have its own system bound drivers (in the form of .dll files installed along with the application).
since UE is only a single executable UE.exe it is not an issue.
performance of 32bit application on 64bit Windows at least in the UE case is the same as well, i checked both compilations for a long time running UE indexing server which is based on the same code (for first several months it was 32 bit then i recompiled it 64 bit).
also 64 bit compilation needs to be processor (e.g. AMD/Intel) specific, not just one.
i think there is a thread about it already somewhere on the forum.

ue indeed works great under vista 32 bit.
But i will get the computers back to xp pro.
Because a lot of strange things happen with vista. Vista reports a lot of " problems" (not with ue, but other programs apparantly). It is bugging me constantly with " problems" i am not aware of. It tries to find answers to the " problems" but does not share them with me.
Also the game " company of heroes" is completely messed up graphically. With xp on the same computer, there is no problem. With vista however, very strange graphical problems appear. Vista is getting annoying!
Maybe the problems started when vista suddenly installed new ati drivers, while i not asked for it.
Reinstalling ati drivers did not resolve the problem. Also when i play video, usually windows mediaplayer found a " problem" (so what is new) and refuses to play the new video after i have to click on the "solution to the problem" . And everything goes so slowly relative to xp.
So back to xp, and i think problems vanish....
(by the way i don't use a cracked version of vista, i bought one for 15 euro because i work at a company that has a contract with microsoft. This is a legal version of vista business. Still it ain't good).

You don't need to crack Vista. Use timerlock and you are running an uncracked version. It's so damn easy I have a suspicion that MS did it on purpose and one day all the timerlocked versions will stop working and everyone will have to buy a copy.bassie wrote: (by the way i don't use a cracked version of vista, i bought one for 15 euro because i work at a company that has a contract with microsoft.
