I'm using NewsPro 3.65.
I have changed my news server so when I access a group it goes to the beginning of all the headers.
I once used FreeAgent and it was able to estahlish a starting point on the news server to get the headers so one didn't have to waist time getting old headers. It keeps a year of headers.
Because the new news server charge for downloading, is there a way to establish a starting point for accessing a new news group so I don't waist money?
Starting point on News server.
better you use usenet explorer http://www.netwu.com/ue, i wonder where you found this newspro version, it is something very old.
in both newspro and usenet explorer you can set "last headers", to limit the number of headers downloaded initially also both programs remember where they left off so they don't redownload headers again unless you invoke options to do so.
usually usenet providers don't charge for header downloads and most of them (in the terms of subscribed users) offer unlimited accounts, so you pay a fee per month, not per GBytes downloaded.
