Double-click in search results window

Post by chili »

I haven't been following the forums because everytime I think of something else I want to do, I find out UE already does it. I have found one little behavioral thing I wanted to request or hear your thoughts about (or do I just need to change a setting).

It doesn't look like double-click is mapped to any action in the search results window. Could it be set to import/dowload/open the message? How I do it now is <spacebar> (imports it - jumps to import listing) <double-click> it, to move to high priority, and to open it. Really not a ton of work :) but would be nicer if it was just one step..... double-click, esc, repeat...

Thanks

in newsgroup views doubleclicking on collection means toggle, for partial/single entries it means opening article view and "download".

for the search view, for collections probably it should mean the same.

but for the rest maybe better not to engage it, because doubleclicking narrows selection only to a single item, then if an action would be associated with it - how it works UE requests search server for message-ids and the limitation is only one search action at a time.

so it is better to create a custom shortcut to do what you need instead, e.g. you can create a shortcut to import&download with high priority (advanced submenu). on the toolbar click the downward arrow at the right, customize, keyboard, then use the "newsgroup view" menu (the options internally are the same, so the shortcut will be valid for both newsgroup and search results views; also i could add search results view menus into customization directly, still with the shared effect).

also the default "download immediately" shortcut is "ctrl+I", you can see shortcuts in the context menus.
