any way to set newspro up to auto backup

i have autosave set up, but it doesn't help this when my machine totally locks. i'm running xp w/ 1 gig of ram. every once in a blue moon, the machine will totally lock up. if i happen to have newspro open downloading stuff, then i'm sol. it just happened this weekend. everything was downloaded fine, but at some later point the machine locked up. the autosave doesn't help in this case. i had to power cycle the machine. when i started newspro back up, it restored from the last backup, which happened to be before that last download i made. now i've got to redownload all the headers. it would be great if the autosave function also auto backed up if the backup option is on.

Just invoke file menu->save database&restart after you downloaded a large amount of headers.

If you see the blue screen when the system crashes you can find the driver that causes that, if it locks up start with the fresh installation and then slowly add other applications to find out what causes the crash, normally it shouldn't happen.

Dynamic database backup is under development within larger set of changes, I cannot rush to implement it since it will break all work schedule, with normally working system it is not a big issue.

My experience with a problem similar to this was fixed by turning off my virus software ( did run all the time), removing ad-aware from the autostart menu and shutting down all screen savers , power downs . Also there are times when you are sure it is locked up an it is just doing it's thing . Another one that got me was firewall set to suspend on unathorized intrusion . Hope this will help you . I really do not know if any of this has anything to do with the problem , but as I worked my way through these my crashes are a thing of the past for the moment .

The Auto-Backup function has been suggested some time ago, i believe alex will look into this. I too would like to have a function in where i can backup the database from the menu Without having to restart newspro. The restart newspro thing is a pain... but works. Maybe sometime we can backup it without restarting !
