Problem getting new headers

Post by Ballshamin »

Hello,

First excuse me, but I don't speak/write english very well. :(
I have problems using NewsPro V.3.70 (and older versions). I use a server that need user/password, and when I load the program and select option: "Open and get new headers" in all groups, it fail saying: "480 Authenication required" or "10061 Connection refused", in some newsgroups. If I retry it several times, then it continue without problems.
The same happen when I select a header for download. The first tasks fails (appear ?), and then it continues normally. I had try to use another user/password with the server, but the problem persist. At last I can complete the download, but try it several times.
The user/password is correct, because I used it in other computer and I haven't problems. I only have the problem in one of the computer (Windows XP Professional). In the other computer it work perfectly (Windows 2000).
The computers are Pentium IV 2000 Mhz.

Will be able possible add an option to rename folders in dialog: Save attachments or Download and Save attachments?

if you have a different firewall on the computer where you experience problems with newspro probably the firewall is to blame (connection refused usually is caused by firewalls).

if it is at least the same firewall try to delete and then redefine the newspro entry in the firewall settings.

if you have something between the computer and the modem try to connect the computer to the modem directly.

with the folder dialog it is possible, i'll write it down somwhere.

Hello...

Thank for you help, but these aren't the problems.
The two computers have the same firewall (program and version) and it is registered. It has the same configuration in two computers.
I tried remove NewsPro entry in firewall and then the firewall renew it, but the problem continue.
Two computers are connect directly to Internet.

I tried to remove the NewsPro in the computer where the fail appear (totally I believe), but when I reinstall, the problem continue...

reinstalling newspro doesn't matter.

try to uninstall the firewall completely and check whether the problem is still there.

the firewall interference may be the combination of the firewall type/version and its state, the particular state (settings and firewall configuration files) may be different from computer to computer even if the firewall type/version is the same.
