Retrying failed article tasks - how long

Post by Uno »

Are articles which are generating error 430 messages ever dropped from the pending task list? When they are not found on any servers at all, are they evenually deleted, downloading cancelled, or do they have to be deleted manually.

Thanks

The articles will be retried as many times as each server permits. Once a server exhausts its retries the article task will move to another server.

If all servers don't have the article then it will Abort entirely. NewsPro will retry articles that failed (Aborted) every X number of minutes as defined in Properties > General.

If you click the question mark symbol on the toolbar then all error messages will be reset, including failed articles. This will clear any failed articles and NewsPro will not attempt to retrieve them.

If you go to the Tasks menu there is the option "Retry failed articles". If that is lit up then there are article tasks that failed and still have not been retrieved. If it is dimmed but there are article errors showing in the Task Manager then it means those articles initially were Aborted but upon being retried NewsPro was able to get them.

also check properties->tasks, retry failed articles every x min, if you set something there you may want to put the empty value so newspro won't retry them.

if the option is set newspro will retry the article tasks as long as the headers are in the database.
