Hi there,
I've just added some more Newsfeeds servers (under a different account name) to Newspro and now I'm getting lots of "too many attempts in 4 seconds" errors. Does Newsfeeds monitor concurrent connections from IP addresses rather than account names?
My settings are :
Max Tasks 3
Retries 3
Connect Delay 6
Too many attempts.....
check with their support, i think they do it by ip address indeed. i remember someone had account with a newsfeeds reseller and newsfeeds themselves and he had such a problem. in this case you need to use a proxy to come from another ip address, but check with their support first whether this is the cause.
Ahhh,
You've just described my situation exactly. I have an annual account with a reseller that's due to expire next month and I've just signed up for a new account direct with newsfeeds.
As you suggest, I'll check with their support people.
Thanks Alex, and thanks also for developing such a damn fine piece of software!

Hi again,
as suggested, I logged a question with Newsfeed support :
>Hi there, I have an annual account with one of your resellers, that is due >to expire next month. I've just signed up for an unlimited account direct >with Newsfeeds. I've added the direct Newsfeed servers into Newspro, >I'm now seeing lots of "too many connection" type errors even though >the reseller and the direct servers are set up with different accounts & >passwords. Do you restrict access to the servers by IP address as well >as by account name? TIA, R.
Their reply :
>Hello, We do not restrict access to our servers by IP address. This may >be an issue with newspro. We will contact the administrator and verify >that IP restriction is not the case. If you continue to receive these errors >please notify us so the issue may be resolved. Thank You Tech Support
I'm going to try setting 2 different machines up with 1 set of servers in each and see what happens, but I'd also appreciate any other suggestions.
TIA,
R.

check userid/password on both accounts and ensure they are different.
newspro cannot be the cause of the problem - every server has different id so even if the ip address is the same it doesn't matter as to controlling the number of connections on every account, you can easily check that the problem persists by running two newspro instances simultaneously (they are completely independent), each with the same newsfeeds server but different accounts (i.e. different userid/password).
if you observe the problem with the two instances you could run then the second instance from another IP (e.g. through a proxy) to see the difference.
if it is not newsfeeds problem i feel you just put the same userid/password for both accounts (then you also disabled the aliases check since it would give a warning then).
