How to transfer queue-list or headers?

Post by Joe »

EDIT: !!! Pls discard this message and read my update directly below.. thanks !!!

Hi, I wonder if possible and how to transfer (only) some of my queued files to a remote computer also running newspro.

Also like to be able to transfer some articles/headers from one newspro database(2) to another db(1) so that I can can fill up the missing headers for a certain post and to download it completely using only newspro db1.
Database1 is fully configured with a few freeservers/1paysrv/priorities etc. and db2 uses a free (50mb) account on the non-xpat server teranews.
Because I only need a few recent headers I do not want to get all the headers from tera in db1 (that takes much time and worse it uses up my credits that i might need for the missing articles that tera got for sure..

Now I use only my payserver (unlimited) for getting all headers, when i switch this temporary to tera (and get latest 40000) I will lose my present headers won't I ? Then maybe an option to get all headers starting with the most recent ones would help..?

Any ideas? thanks!

Hi,

I found to use the "retain" the rest function in the newsgroup propeties so I fixed my little missing header problem :-)

But I still wonder if possible and how to transfer (only) a part of my queue list to another (remote) computer. Sometimes I have access to a friends pc and internet connection so then I like to move some of my tasks to that machine.

The only thing I can think of is me using multiple databases and when I want to move some of my tasks to the remote pc, I have to choose a complete database and move certain (which?) files to the other pc.

I can live with that :-) but is there a way to only move certain selected articles? Like do some sort of export?

Any ideas? thanks!

it is possible but it is not so trivial, some articles are in compact article storage so you need to disable it (in both databases), also bodies are in .npr files and numbers should be unique if you copy them (otherwise files will be overwritten). then you need to reset the database or if you want to keep everything then you should kill the program when database backup is enabled (and the program started with the database backup enabled). then you enable compact article storage again.

if you want to merge all articles - you just copy them; for only selected articles you can save article sources (uncheck properties->general, derive save names from subject, but still newspro add 'source' before the number).

if there is there are .npr name clashes - change the number to an unique number in the range 1-16000000.
