Actions not performed on selected items

Post by voripteth »

:? I think I've come across a minor bug in NewsPro when it comes to performing an action on multiple selections.

Select multiple messages and press the Delete key. Only the item with the focus is actually deleted. I've also done something similar when I tried to open multiple articles at the same time. Only the focus item is opened.

 The behaviour that I would expect is that the action should be performed on all selected items.

The program does seem to work that way for me to . If you right click on the message bodies , there is a nice little set of delete thingies (delete bodies [shift+del] delete headers [alt+x] ) right in the middle of the page .
The problem for me is my left hand (infeydal) is permanently attached to the mouse  so typing is slow and short cut keys are limited to one finger .
Hope this helps

Ps : I use this method to edit the lists a lot . Deleteing things in large groups like messages that are under 100 lines and before a certain date .
Just old habits witch are hard to break and the inability to understand filters very well .

in the context menu there is a separate submenu for the focused item, shortcuts are shown there too. Del is related to the focused item, for the selected items use shift+del.

the usefulness of opening multiple articles is questionable (i remember windows explorer does it and at times i triggered that accidentally ending with a lot of opened files). in this particular case maybe it is a better idea to use the split window, or to open/close them with Enter/Esc correspondingly.

Alex, I remember having opened some 400 to 500 files by accident by pushing Enter one time. A nice thing about Windows XP is when you try to hit enter with something like 10 or more files highlighted then it gives a warning saying "Do you really wish to open this many files?" In WindowsME I recall it would just open and open until the computer crashed. lol
