Save each part separately then either use 'copy /b' at a command prompt or a simpler/easier way is to use something like Bl Join . It sounds like the post you've downloaded was badly formed. Is there no way to get the article elsewhere? Check the filename and use it in UE's search service. That woul...

Briefly, when a message list pane contains a mixture of selected and unselected items, and the focus is moved away from that pane... Oh, I know what you mean now. I get around this by clicking on a scrollbar to make the focus more visible. I could click any of the headers to get focus back again bu...

The buttons beneath the dropdown lists are intentionally blank. They're used as option buttons so you can selectively pick which column items you would like to copy/paste into other items in the list. However, you seem to be missing three buttons on the Servers tab, below Preference, Msg-id direct a...

...when posting from an external disc (what i normally do)... Your external could be powering down occasionally, causing a break in the posting process. Unless you're sitting there and able to hear it (assuming the external isn't really quiet), you wouldn't really know. It shouldn't do this but you...

Virtual groups are built into UE. Read here how to set some up. Once you've set up your virtual groups, right-click them and select Properties. In that dialogue, choose the save path at the bottom. Do this for every virtual group you create. Every time you save something from your virtual groups aft...

I think maybe he's referring to something similar to the Places Bar that you see in standard Windows Open/Save dialogues. The fact that he uses the word 'label' could mean he is coming from other software that used that term. I suppose it would be feasible to have a dialogue before Download & Sa...

Compare the age of the posts with the retention of your servers. If you are downloading articles close to the end of the retention they may be appearing as 'No such article' to UE and it will take whatever course of action you have specified in the settings. Look at Properties->Articles->Save Queue ...

It's interesting to see your download speed. You said your ISP says you have up to 3Mb/s when your stated speed here is close to 12Mb/s. Well, at least it shows you have good speeds otherwise. The problem seems to be whenever you use SSL. Typically, you would have configured your news client to have...

I think you're confusing matters by associating SSL with anything online. In our case, we're talking about SSL with UE - forget about Firefox for now. How many servers do you have? How many connections do you have set for each server? (Edit->Properties->Servers, the numbers in the Tasks column.) Wha...

3Mb would be 384KB/s but minus the overhead would be slightly less than that. If it stops transfer altogether, your firewall must be blocking the connection. You could temporarily disable any firewall you have to at least rule it out. What are your speeds downloading through non-SSL? Do you use a ro...

The news client doesn't determine which port you can use - your provider will state which. To get maximum speed, find out how many simultaneous connections they allow and input that into UE. SSL does have overheads due to encryption, though most people will tell you it isn't really all that much if ...

I wonder if anyone else does as well. I saw this thread at the time and just thought I'd have to live with it but no-one else chimed in, either.

Maybe we're bugged. :?
